South sea pearls from Indonesia. South Sea pearls are cultivated using silver lip or gold lip oyster (Pinctada maxima oyster) also known as the Silver-Lipped oyster, found in the South Seas. Southseas is an area in Northern Australia and South East Asia including Lombok Island of Indonesia and the eastern part of the archipelago. These silverlip or goldlip oysters have always been prized for the thick shells of lustrous mother of pearl.

There're four categories we use in choosing southsea pearls when we buy from pearl farms or pearl companies on the eastern part of Indonesian archipelago. It is the color of the pearls, the luster of the pearls, the shape of the pearls and last but not least, the matching of the pearls.

We sell only salt water pearls from south sea pearl farms and use only 925 sterling silver jewelry. All pearls come from pearl farms located in Lombok Island and other islands on the eastern part of Indonesia vast archipelago. There're various shapes for the pearls, here's what we have:

Southsea pearls available in various grades. The grading system which use in Indonesia mainly Tahitian system. The Tahitian system divide pearls into four grades, from grade A to grade D, with A being the finest quality.

  • South Sea Pearl Grade A
    The finest quality for south sea pearl. Very high luster and a little bit imperfections. It's less than ten percent of the pearl surface.
  • South Sea Pearl Grade B
    High to medium luster. Pearl surface may have some visible imperfections with maximum thirty percent of the pearl surface.
  • South Sea Pearl Grade C
    Medium luster with pearl surface defects maximum sixty percent of the pearl surface area.
  • South Sea Pearl Grade D
    The pearl may have many slight defects, but not deep. The defect of the pearl spread more than sixty percent of the pearl surface. The grade D also apply to pearl with deep defects sixty percent maximum of the pearl surface.

We use only 9.25 sterling silver. Sterling silver is a mix of 92.5% fine silver and 7.5% copper. The silver is handcrafted by Balinese silver smith. They are famous worldwide as Bali silver jewelry.
